J&K Police boosts CI apparatus in Pir Panjal
Rajouri, Dec 23: Amid ongoing security concerns after the recent ambush attack on the Army vehicles forcing security forces to go for a serious introspection of situation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has taken a step to boost its Counter Insurgency (CI) apparatus with posting of three more Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) in Police Component of the Pir Panjal region’s twin districts - Rajouri and Poonch.
Police Component (PC) is a specialised wing of J&K Police in each district which is also called the Special Operation Group that has the main mandate to work on the anti-terror front.
Earlier, there were a total of three Deputy SP PCs in the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch who were called Deputy SP Operations in local Police terminology.
Among these, two Deputy SP PCs (Operations) are in the Poonch district with one at Poonch Headquarters and one at the Surankote sub division while in Rajouri district there was only one Deputy SP PC (Operation) in Rajouri district headquartered at district headquarters.
The J&K Police now has taken a major step to boost the Police Component in the twin districts which are passing through a concerned security state with multiple terror acts and encounters that include a recent
major terror strike at Dhera Ki Gali (DKG) in the Bufliaz forest on Thursday in which four Army personnel were killed and four were injured after terrorists ambushed the two Army vehicles.
In an order of transfer of Deputy SSPs issued by Police Headquarters J&K, posting orders of 30 officers of DySPs rank have been issued.
These officers are of the 2020 batch who have recently completed their basic, district practical training following which their adjustments are made.
Among these 30 officers, three DySPs have been posted in the Rajouri and Poonch districts in the Police Component in addition to the earlier three officers taking the total number of DySPs of the PC in twin districts to six.
The Police Headquarters has also ordered for attaching posts of these DySPs with the concerned Superintendents of Police in respective districts for drawal of salaries.
The officers posted include Anam Zahoor Manhas and Sumit Bhagat who have been posted as DySPs PC Rajouri and Umer Urfan who has been posted as DySP PC Poonch.
With this, the total number of DySPs in the Police Component in Rajouri and Poonch has gone to six against the earlier three.
Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain also visited the Dehra Ki Gali area of Rajouri, Poonch districts and reviewed the security situation, and operational aspects after the recent terror attack on Army vehicles in DKG, Bufliaz forest in which four Army personnel were killed and three injured.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Anand Jain has also been camping in Rajouri and Poonch areas for the last two days and is reviewing the security situation.
