J&K Police apolitical, impartial force: ADGP L&O
Srinagar, July 17: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order (L&O), Vijay Kumar, along with Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Vidhi Kumar Birdi and other senior officers oversaw the Muharram arrangements in the Zadibal area of Srinagar downtown on Wednesday.
The senior Police officers reviewed the security and logistical preparations to ensure a smooth and peaceful procession on the day of Ashura.
Their presence was part of the broader efforts to maintain law and order during the significant religious period.
The ADGP L&O commended the efforts of the police and civil administration in Srinagar for their meticulous arrangements for Muharram in the Zadibal area of Srinagar.
During his visit, Kumar praised the coordinated efforts that ensured a peaceful and organised observance of Ashura.
He highlighted the professionalism and dedication of the officers involved in maintaining law and order during the significant religious event.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri; Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Central Kashmir Range, Rajiv Pandey; DC Srinagar Bilal Mohiuddin, SSP Srinagar and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
On the sidelines of the event, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order (L&O), Vijay Kumar said that the comments made by DGP Swain during a lecture regarding regional parties allegedly collaborating with terrorist leaders might reflect his personal opinion.
“The J&K Police has always been an apolitical force, working with impartiality. The DGP’s statement could be his personal view. We are a professional, apolitical, and impartial force,” he said.
