J&K players shine at 10th Indian Open Gateball Championship

Srinagar, Nov 25: The players of the J&K Gateball Union have delivered an outstanding performance at the 10th Indian Open Gateball Championship 2024, held in Pataudi, Haryana, from November 23 to 24.

A statement said that competing against some of the strongest teams in the country, J&K's men’s and women’s teams showcased remarkable skill and resilience, defeating formidable opponents like Delhi & Pride Blues, Tripura, and Junior Academy teams.

The event, organised by the Indian Gateball Union, witnessed intense competition, with the J&K teams leaving an indelible mark on the national stage. Their stellar performance has not only brought laurels to the Union Territory but has also earned them the honor of hosting the next edition of the championship.

"We are eagerly looking forward to hosting such a prestigious event in Kashmir," said Sahil Ali Beigh, General Secretary of the J&K Gateball Union. The decision to hold the championship in Srinagar next year is seen as a significant milestone, highlighting the growing prominence of gateball in the region and bringing international focus to the sport in Jammu & Kashmir.
