Nazir, with his four-wicket haul, proved unplayable as he removed key players, including Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who managed just three runs off 19 balls.

However, Shardul Thakur’s 51 provided a lone spark for Mumbai, crafting a gritty half-century. His 53-run partnership with Tanush Kotian 26 helped the hosts avoid complete humiliation, taking their total to 120.

In reply, J&K’s Shubham Khajuria led the charge with a composed 50, with Abid Mushtaq chipping in with a crucial 44 to help their team secure a lead. Mumbai’s Mohit Avasthi bowled admirably, picking up three wickets to keep the visitors in check.

Umar Nazir Mir was the standout performer of the day. His lethal spells dismantled Mumbai’s top order, including the prized scalps of Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer.

His partner in destruction, Yudhvir Singh Charak, claimed four wickets as well, proving the depth in J&K’s bowling arsenal.

At stumps, J&K were 174/7, with Paras Dogra 19* and Yudhvir Singh Charak 1* holding the fort.

The second day promises an intriguing battle as Mumbai aims to fight back while J&K seeks to capitalize on their early advantage.
