J&K on way to register victory over ‘evil’: DGP

Jammu: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh Tuesday said that J&K, which witnessed a long spell of ‘evil’, was slowly and steadily on the way to fully overpower it (reign of terror) and emerge victorious in its fight (against such forces).

Singh also reassured that the situation vis-à-vis security scenario and infiltration attempts (from across the border), was fully under control due to alacrity of JKP and other security forces.

He was speaking to media persons after the culmination of Vijayadashami celebrations here this evening. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu zone Anand Jain accompanied the DGP.

“I extend my Dussehra greetings to all. The festival is celebrated across the country as a symbolic triumph of good over evil. It (festival) aptly demonstrates the ultimate power of truth and righteousness over evil forces, however dominant and all-pervasive they are. J&K too witnessed a long spell of evil (terrorism). We have been witnessing that slowly and steadily here also (in J&K), truth and righteousness have started prevailing. Over the passage of time, we have been able to almost eliminate ‘evil’,” DGP said.

Singh congratulated the people and participants on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, on behalf of Sanatan Dharam committee and other dignitaries. “I pray for the happiness and prosperity of all and hope that the festival will be a harbinger of peace (in J&K) and the coming days and year will bring more prosperity and see further improvement. May the peace prevail all across (J&K) and pave way for development! I hope and believe that the traces of “evil” here would also be wiped out very soon,” DGP asserted.

When asked about the steps being taken to eliminate existing “traces of evil”, Singh said, “You are witnessing how we are eliminating them (terrorists). We have almost neutralised the majority (of terrorists). There are few left and they too would soon meet their fate.”

Responding to a question about the likelihood of spurt in infiltration attempts with the onset of winter, DGP said that the situation was fully under control. “There is nothing to worry about on any account. Our police force, our security forces are fully alert. With alacrity, they will take care of all these challenges effectively,” he said.
