J&K LG chairs critical security, development meet

Srinagar, June 15: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Saturday chaired a high-level meeting on the security scenario and various development projects of the Kashmir division and reviewed preparations for Eid-ul-Adha, Amarnath Yatra, and Yoga Diwas.

The LG directed the civil and Police administration to work in close coordination with the security agencies to neutralise the terror ecosystem.

He said that those who were aiding and abetting terrorists and their ecosystem should not be spared.

During the meeting, LG Sinha sought the action taken report from the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to curb the menace of drug abuse in their respective districts.

The meeting also discussed the preparations made by the districts and Police administration ahead of the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, Amarnath Yatra, and Yoga Diwas.

The meeting discussed important matters related to yatra including security and traffic management, upgradation of roads, earmarking of areas for tents, langar services, RFID cards, and 100 percent implementation of prepaid services of ponies and pithoos.

The LG also reviewed the progress of various development projects, delivery of public services and implementation of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and other government-run schemes and programmes.

He also congratulated the DCs and SSPs for the successful and peaceful conduct of parliamentary polls and Mela Kheer Bhawani.

Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Principal Secretary Home Department, Chandraker Bharti; Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order (L&O), Vijay Kumar; ADGP CID, Nitish Kumar; IGP Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi; Principal Secretary to LG, Mandeep Kumar Bhandari; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Bidhuri, DIGs, DCs, and SSPs also attended the meeting.
