J&K highways will be at par with those of America: Nitin Gadkari
Rajouri, Sept 19: Senior BJP leader and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today said that highways across J&K will be at par with highways of America by the end of next year 2025.
He was addressing a public rally organised at Budhal area of Rajouri district. Gadkari referred to a number of roads, highways and especially the tunnel projects that have been taken by Government of India across J&K in last one decade.
“There were only three tunnel across J&K before BJP rule and the number has now increased for multiple times which shows our commitment for public welfare,” he said.
The Union Minister stated that a number of tunnel projects have already been completed where as work on a number of other projects is going on besides which several new projects are also on cards. “We are going to transform Jammu and Kashmir in all aspects and this is my promise with all the people,” he said adding, “All the highways across Jammu and Kashmir will be at par with America by the end of 2025.” Gadkari said that Mughal Road tunnel tender will be floated soon
The BJP leader also highlighted the importance of livelihood generation through tourism and said that best possible efforts will be made to tap the tourism potential of this area besides establishing a corridor of tourism from Shri Mata Vaishnoo Devi shrine to Kashmir via Budhal as demanded by locals.
Earlier, BJP candidate from Budhal, Zulfikar Ali addressed the gathering briefed Union Minister about topographic situation of area, tourism potential and lack of some important road projects.
