Uri, Dec 28: A Bharaat (wedding party) was stranded at the bride's house in Lachipora area of Uri in north Kashmir's Baramulla district due to snowfall on Friday.

Reports said that 12 Bharatis who travelled to the bride's house from the Limber area yesterday evening are unable to return due to road closure caused by heavy snowfall.

"We arrived here last evening at 4:30 pm, but within half an hour, it started snowing heavily. The road quickly became slippery, making it impossible to move out," said Bashir Ahmad, a member of the wedding party.

"Despite informing the concerned authorities, no one has come to clear the road since morning," he added.

According to Ahmad, the area has received approximately six inches of snowfall. "It is difficult to move out until the road is cleared," he said.

He urged the authorities to expedite the snow-clearing process. "We appeal to the concerned departments to clear the snow at the earliest so we can return to our homes," Ahmad said.

It is worth mentioning that several roads in Uri and Boniyar divisions are closed following the fresh snowfall.

Meanwhile, the concerned authorities have assured that efforts are underway to address the situation.
