Srinagar, Oct 22: The Transport Department of Jammu and Kashmir has sanctioned the release of Rs 14.85 crore for the procurement of 90 Mahindra Scorpio vehicles designated for the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).

An official order directed the concerned officers to procure 90 Mahindra Scorpio vehicles for the MLAs.

The order said that the sanction would be subjected to conditions that the Director of Motor Garages and Account Officer, J&K Motor Garages would vouch for the availability of funds for the purpose they were meant for.

It said that the department should make the procurement through the GEM portal in terms of GFR 2017 after following due e-tendering procedures and all codal formalities.

The order said that the funds should be utilised for the specific purpose only without any deviation.

It said that there should be no idle parking of the amount at all and that the funds would not be available for re-appropriation or diversion and deviation at any level.

The order said that no post of driver should be created.

It said that the UCs and red accounts of the advance drawal should be furnished to the concerned quarters within the stipulated time frame by March 31, 2025.

The order said that the Director of Motor Garages should ensure that the advance payment be made after making an advance withdrawal of the amount adequately secured and guaranteed.
