Srinagar, Nov 25: The Jammu and Kashmir Finance Department will begin discussions on budget proposals for the financial year 2026–27 from 1 December as part of its annual budget-preparation exercise.

In a communication addressed to administrative secretaries, the department has conveyed that the deliberations will start on 1 December and conclude on 16 December 2025. Over this period, the Finance Department will hold detailed discussions with 36 departments to finalise revised estimates for 2025–26 and prepare budget estimates for 2026–27. The consultations will cover revenue and capital components, including Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), the Prime Minister’s Development Programme (PMDP), and loan provisions.

According to the communiqué, departments have been advised to furnish Action Taken Reports on budget announcements, wherever applicable, along with complete details relating to the Establishment Budget and FRBM, well ahead of their scheduled discussion date.

Departments have also been directed to submit PowerPoint presentations containing data on staffing—sanctioned, in position and contractual—along with trends in scheme-wise revenue and capital expenditure, revenue receipts over the past five years and their potential for enhancement, major projects and initiatives, and the total liabilities of ongoing works.
