Srinagar, Feb 26: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has kept in abeyance its earlier order regarding the designation of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) / State School Standards Authority (SSSA) as the nodal agency for conducting the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET), officials said on Wednesday.

As per Government Order No. 87-JK (Edu) of 2026 dated February 26, issued by the School Education Department, the previous Government Order No. 82-JK (Edu) of 2026 dated February 23 has been put on hold until further orders.

The order was earlier issued and in reference to the judgment dated September 1, 2025, passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Civil Appeal No. 1385/2025 and connected matters titled Anjuman Ishat-E-Taleem Trust vs State of Maharashtra & Others.

According to the order issued by Commissioner/Secretary to Government, School Education Department, Ram Niwas Sharma (IAS), the earlier directive concerning the designation of JKBOSE/SSSA as the nodal agency for conducting the Teachers Eligibility Test will remain in abeyance pending further review or clarification.

The order has been circulated to various concerned authorities, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Project Director Samagra Shiksha J&K, Directors of School Education Jammu and Kashmir, Chairman JKBOSE/SSSA, Chief Education Officers, and other officials for necessary information and compliance.

The move is expected to have administrative implications on the conduct and management of TET examinations in the Union Territory until a fresh decision or revised order is issued by the government.Further developments are awaited. (KNC)
