Srinagar, Dec 16: The Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a high-level committee to address the issue of land allocation for the relocation of the Government Medical College Handwara.

As per an order, issued by the General Administration Department, Divisional Commissioner  Kashmir has been appointed as the committee chairperson. The members of the committee includes, inter alia, the deputy commissioner Kupwara, Chief Engineer Public Works Department, and Principal GMC Handwara.

As per the order, the members will evaluate the feasibility of new sites proposed by the Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara for the construction of GMC Handwara and its Nursing College.

They will analyze the safety parameters of the site based on the past learnings and empirical data especially with regard to soil strata, gradient, highest flood levels etc.

They will also look into the availability of utilities like water, road connectivity, power supply etc. or else developmental cost on these aspects.

They have been tasked to look into the availability of encumbrance free land, land type and exact quantum of land that could be made available for the project.

They will also ensure issuance of necessary NOCs/clearances from the departments like Forest, Agriculture, SKUAST (K) and others as are pre-requisites for facilitating the land transfer, read the order, further.
