J&K beat Assam by 6 wickets in U-23 State-A Trophy
Srinagar, Nov 15: Basit Nazir continued his fine run with the bat, and skipper Shivansh Sharma struck an unbeaten 75 as Jammu and Kashmir defeated Assam by six wickets in the U-23 State-A Trophy at the Darshanam Sports and Education Academy ground on Saturday.
Chasing a target of 242 runs, as per a statement, J&K rode on a superb batting display by consistent Basit Nazir, skipper Shivansh Sharma and promising Mousub Mohd Bhat and chased the target easily in 49.1 overs by losing 4 wickets, thus winning the match by 6 wickets.
Shivansh top scored with an unbeaten 75 runs off 90 balls studded with 3 fours and one six, while Basit Nazir contributed 72 runs off 106 balls with 8 boundaries. Mousub remained unconquered on a brisk 44 off 44 balls, while Arnav Gupta contributed 38 runs to the total.
Mayush Hazarika, Harsh Kumar, Rajesh Prasad and Ronit Akhter claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, put into bat, Assam scored 241 runs. Parvez Musharraf top scored with 93 runs off 116 balls, hitting 6 fours and 4 sixes, while Rajveer Singh (46) and Sourav Mohsum (35) were the other major contributors.
For J&K, Basit Bashir was the most successful bowler, taking 3 wickets, while Atif Bin Mushtaq and Sarvashish Singh bagged 2 wickets each. Vishal Kumar, Archit Mahajan and Arya Thakur claimed one wicket each.
