J&K Assembly is viewpoint of majority: Sajad Lone
Srinagar, Nov 6: Peoples’ Conference (PC) President and MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone Wednesday said that the assembly is the viewpoint of the majority of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He was commenting on the resolution passed by the house seeking special status under Article 370 back to the region.
Lone said that whatever happened on August 5, 2019, was against the will of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly in Srinagar, MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone said the protest of the opposition will yield nothing and serve no purpose. He said whatever happened on August 5, 2019, was against the will of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and 35(A) was abrogated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government on August 5, 2019, and also downgraded the erstwhile State into two Union Territories – J&K and Ladakh.
Lone while commenting on the resolution passed by the house said, “As far as this Assembly is concerned, this is the most powerful and relevant institution which will either morally or politically accept the decisions taken on August 05, 2019, or reject it”.
When asked about the uproar by opposition over the move, he said this is not mere Assembly. “This is the viewpoint of the majority of people of Jammu & Kashmir. This is not mere Assembly,” Lone said.
