Sagar said the BJP government rather than engaging with aggrieved people with an aim to address their issues has chosen to tread the path of isolating them and denying them the fruits of democracy, enjoyed by their co-countrymen in the other regions of the country.

The NC leader asserted that “disenchantment among the people has reached an epic level, so has the anti-incumbency against this present unrelated and undemocratic regime”.

He exhorted the party cadre to remain present among the people and make them aware of the key achievements of the successive popular governments led by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Dr Farooq Sb, and Omar Abdullah. He further asked them to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.

Pointing towards the increasing gulf between the administration and the people, Sagar said, “Having public representatives in the policy-making bodies makes the policies more attuned to the concerns of the public. In J&K it’s the other way round, the locals have no say in the administration making it deaf to all their concerns.”
