New Delhi, July 1: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today launched a special campaign aimed at addressing Family Pension Grievances, as part of the 100-day action plan of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. During the launch, Dr Singh emphasized the crucial role of pensioners in nation-building, stating that providing ease in pension disbursal is not charity but a recognition of their valuable contributions. He highlighted the wealth of experience and wisdom that senior citizens bring to the table, which can be harnessed for national development.

The month-long campaign, running from July 1 to July 31, 2024, will focus on resolving 1,891 family pension-related grievances across 46 government departments and ministries. These cases, currently pending on the CPENGRAMS portal, represent a significant portion of the annual grievances registered.

Dr Singh outlined several key reforms implemented by his department, including amendments to rules that previously excluded divorced daughters from family pensions until they obtained a legal divorce. The waiting period for families of missing employees has also been reduced from seven years, addressing a long-standing concern.
