A group of distressed students from Kashmir said that the college admit cards had been released and the majority of the students from Kashmir had been allotted exam centres in Jammu as this time no centre has been set up in Srinagar.

ìEvery year, there used to be a centre in Srinagar for the convenience of students. But this year, the aspirants are in distress. We have worked hard but travelling outside Kashmir amid the prevailing circumstances is not feasible,î the students said.

The students said that the condition of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was uncertain while prices of air tickets had touched the sky.

ìMaking travel plans a day or two days before the exams disturbs the entire preparation schedule,î the students said.

The aspirants said that this year, for the first time in the history of Kashmir, in JEE Main, a student secured 152nd rank while scores of girl students performed fairly as well.

ìHowever, all of them are distressed. It is difficult for such students to travel at this time. The flights are unaffordable while the condition of the highway is terrible,î the students said.

They urged the administration to restore the Srinagar centre so that all the students here can appear in the exams.

ìOur careers should not get affected due to this small issue,î the students said.

Advisor to Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani when contacted told Greater Kashmir that the matter will be looked into.
