JE arrested for accepting bribe in Handwara: ACB

Kupwara, Mar 14:  The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Thursday arrested a Junior Engineer (JE) of the Rural Development Department’s block Qaziabad in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district for accepting a bribe of Rs 5000.

An official said that a complaint was received alleging that Junior Engineer, Arshid Hussain Marazi was demanding a bribe of Rs 5000 for preparing bills for the works executed by the complainant under the NREGA and the 14th FC at Block Qaziabad.

“Upon receiving the complaint, a case was registered at ACB Baramulla, following which a trap team was constituted. The trap team caught Arshid Marazi red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant,” he said.

The accused was arrested and taken into custody. “The bribe money was also recovered from his possession,” he said.
