Javid Ahmad Matoo assumes charge as DIG south Kashmir

Srinagar, June 15: Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Javid Ahmad Matoo Saturday assumed charge as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of South Kashmir Range (SKR).

Matoo, a seasoned Police officer, brings with him a wealth of experience and a reputation for effective leadership in law enforcement.

Matoo's appointment comes at a critical time for south Kashmir, as the region is bracing for the annual Amarnath Yatra.

He has served in many capacities including SSP Shopian, SSP Kargil, SSP Ramban, SP Operations Anantnag, and SP Operations Budgam, besides other sensitive postings.

His expertise and strategic approach are expected to bolster efforts in maintaining peace and combating terrorism in the area.

Matoo replaced Altaf Ahmad Khan who has been posted in the Armed Wing of the J&K Police.
