Jammu youth duped with study visa, forced into Russian Army
Jammu, Sep 17: The parents of a Khour youth, Sachin Khajuria, have sought immediate intervention of the Centre to ensure his safe return from Russia, where he, along with 14 other Indian youth, was “coerced” to take up military duties in the Russian Army against Ukraine.
According to the family, besides Sachin, two more youth from Jammu were duped in the name of study visas and fake promises of lucrative job opportunities, and they landed in Russia only to find themselves in dire straits.
Sachin reached Russia in August this year.
“They were forced to sign some documents in Russian and were coerced into joining the Russian Army. They were sent to frontline posts near the Ukraine border.
Somehow, Sachin managed to call his brother two days back with the plea to save him. We are extremely worried about the fate of our child,” Sachin’s parents said, sharing their agony.
The family has sought the help of Union Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh to take up the matter with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to ensure his safe return.
“We seek immediate intervention of the Centre to activate all its channels to get our children back safely, before it is too late,” the family said.
