The only higher mark, according to ‘Kashmir Weather’ remains the 228.6 millimetres recorded on 5 August 1926. With the latest spell, Jammu has also surpassed its previous second-highest figure of 189.6 millimetres, which was logged on 11 August 2022.

Heavy downpour triggered waterlogging in several parts of the city, disrupted traffic and raised concerns over the flood situation in low-lying areas. Authorities are monitoring river levels, particularly in streams prone to sudden swelling during intense rainfall.
