Jammu North MLA urges swift rehabilitation, flood mitigation measures
Jammu, Sep 10: MLA Jammu North Sham Lal Sharma on Wednesday asked the district administration to expedite loss assessment for affected households in recent flash floods and take immediate measures for relief, rehabilitation and flood mitigation.
Directions were issued after the MLA undertook an extensive tour of the worst-affected areas in Ward No. 61 and Ward No. 67, following the devastation caused by recent flash floods in the Jammu North constituency.
The visit aimed at closely assessing the damages, interacting with affected families and ensuring prompt action by the administration for relief, rehabilitation, and flood prevention.
In Ward 61, the MLA began his inspection at Tomal Mohalla Peer Baba, where nearly 80 families suffered significant crop and property damage. Sharma expressed deep concern over the hardships faced by the residents and directed the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of PHE Jal Shakti to submit a detailed proposal for extending water supply connections to the uncovered parts of the mohalla.
