Jammu division schools to remain closed today

Jammu, Aug 17: Amid predictions of inclement weather, the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) on Sunday ordered closure of all government and private schools across Jammu division for August 18.

The decision, issued by the Director of School Education, Jammu, Naseem Javid Chowdhary, comes in view of the prevailing adverse weather conditions and predictions of heavy rainfall in the next two days.

Authorities have urged parents and students to adhere to the advisory, prioritising safety during the ongoing spell of rain and rough weather.

Regular updates regarding reopening will be communicated as per weather improvement, officials said.

In the Rajouri district, the School Education Department had already ordered closure of all educational institutions on August 18, citing the weather forecast and precautionary measures.

In the Poonch district, also, a similar order had been issued.
