Jammu division likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall from Aug 13-15, says MeT

Srinagar, Aug 13: The Meteorological department today predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Jammu from August 13-15.

A MeT official informed that the weather will likely be generally cloudy with light to moderate rain/thundershower at many places with possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated to scattered places of Jammu division including Reasi, Udhampur, Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Doda and Rajouri, mainly towards night/early morning hours during August 13-15.

The official said that few places of Kashmir division may also receive moderate showers with brief intense showers/gusty winds during August 13-15.

“Thunders, lightening and gusty winds at few places, while flash floods at few vulnerable places with landslides, mudslides and shooting stones are expected in the meanwhile,” the official held.

On August 16, the weather is expected generally hot and humid with possibility of brief showers at few places, he said.

From August 17-19 the official predicted light to moderate rain/thunder at many places with heavy rain at few places of Jammu division, mainly towards late night/early morning, he also said.

The official advised people to stay away from water bodies, river embankments and loose structures.
