Jamait-e-Hamdani opposes installation of ACs in Khanqah-e-Moulla
Srinagar, Jan 7: J&K Jamait-e-Hamdani has strongly opposed the move of the Waqf Board to install ACs in the revered shrine of Khanqah-e-Moulla in Downtown here.
According to a press release, thereligious organised held a meeting under the chairmanship of its patron Moulana Mirwaiz Riyaz Hamdani and decided to oppose the installation of the ACs saying this will pose risk of fire to the historic shrine.
“Instead of strengthening fire fighting mechanism, the Waqf Board is taking measures which pose risk to the shrine. The centuries-old shrine is built mostly of wood and is prone to fire incidents. Installation of ACs inside the shrine can pose a risk to the historic structure,” said chief spokesperson of Jamait-e-Hamdani GM Saqi.
Saqi said a resolution was passed during the meeting to impress upon the Waqf Board to conduct fire safety audit of all Kashmir shrines and put fire fighting mechanism in place.
