Jal Shakti PHE clinches 4th consecutive Inter-department T20 title, crushes SMC by 88 runs

Srinagar, Feb 26: Jalshakti PHE continued its dominance in the Inter-departmental T20 cricket tournament, securing its fourth consecutive title with a commanding 88-run victory over Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) at Aluchibagh Ground, Srinagar.

As per a statement issued, led by former Ranji Trophy captain Samiullah Beigh, Jalshakti posted 187/8 in 20 overs, powered by Shahid Aftab’s 69.

In reply, SMC was bundled out for 99 in 15.5 overs, with Syed Iqbal’s four-wicket haul sealing the win. The tournament, featuring eight departmental teams, has seen Jal Shakti PHE reign supreme in all four editions.

Aqib Sidiq from the SMC team was declared Man of the tournament for his outstanding performance throughout the tournament. The inter-department cricket tournament has been organised annually for the last four years, and Jal Shakti PHE Kashmir, under the leadership of Ace J&K cricketer Samiullah Beigh, has won all four editions.

Eight departmental cricket teams participated in edition four of the event, which include J&K Forest, Kashmir University, SKAUST, Central University, the Mechanical Engineering Department, EDI, SMC, & Jal Shakti.
