Srinagar, Nov 11: Jailed Member of Parliament (MP) from the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency, Er Rashid, on Tuesday announced that he will observe a two-day hunger strike from tomorrow to condemn the Delhi blast incident.

In a letter written to the Director General of Prisons, Tihar Jail, New Delhi, MP Er Rashid expressed his grief and protest over the loss of precious human lives in the bomb blast that occurred on November 10, 2025, which left nine people dead and several others injured.

He also voiced concern over media reports suggesting that educated Kashmiris, including doctors, were joining the path of violence.

“I want to remind my fellow Kashmiris that we cannot afford to lose our young and educated people. I want to make it clear, on behalf of my electorate, that violence has no place in a civilized society,” he said.

The MP urged all stakeholders to give peace a chance and appealed to Kashmiri youth to understand the grave consequences of violence.

“I will be observing a two-day hunger strike inside my cell in Tihar Jail from 9 AM on November 12, 2025 (Tuesday),” he said.

Concluding his statement, Er Rashid quoted Mahatma Gandhi, saying:

“If I am to make a choice between supporting violence or being called a coward, I would prefer to be called a coward.”
