IUST to hold literary festival on Nov 11
Awantipora, Nov 9: As part of the 19th Foundation Day celebrations, the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) is holding a literary festival on November 11.
The day-long event is being organised by the Editorial Committee, IUST, in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL).
Vice Chancellor, IUST, Prof Shakil A. Romshoo, who will be the chief guest on the occasion, shall inaugurate the official literary club of the University under the name of “Lal Ded Literary Society.”
“The initiative shall provide the students with valuable opportunities for intellectual growth and creative expression.” “We are excited to host the literary fest, which aims to promote literature and culture within our university community and beyond,” said Prof Romshoo.
“By bringing together writers, poets and literary enthusiasts, we hope to foster a vibrant exchange of ideas and creativity, enriching the cultural fabric of our institution, and inspiring our students and faculty alike,” he added.
Renowned Kashmiri poet and Sahitya Akademi awardee, Prof Naseem Shafaie, shall be the guest of honour, while Dr Shabnam Rafiq, Incharge, Programme Office, JKAACL, shall be the special guest.
Greater Kashmir is the media partner for the event. The festival aims to provide a platform to students to explore their creative potential through various literary forms, including on-spot essay writing, poetry recitation, debate competition and Lal Vakh reading. Meanwhile, a short film based on the essence of Lal Ded, produced by Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, IUST, shall be screened on the occasion.
