IUST secures place in NIRF 2025 rankings across 3 categories
Awantipora, Sep 5: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, has achieved a significant milestone by securing a place for the first time under three categories in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, released by the Ministry of Education, Govt of India.
In a statement, the varsity said that this year’s rankings witnessed a record participation, with 7,692 institutions submitting 14,163 applications across categories, making IUST’s inclusion all the more noteworthy.
“In the 2025 rankings, IUST has secured a position in the 151–200 rank band in the Overall University category and the 151–200 band in Engineering. Importantly, the university has also been placed in the 51–100 rank band under State Public Universities, underscoring its rise as a leading public university in the country.”
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo described the achievement as a proud moment for IUST, a young university from J&K, to feature in three NIRF categories. He said the recognition reflects the commitment of the faculty, students, and staff, and reaffirms the university’s mission of knowledge creation, innovation, and inclusive regional development.
Prof. Romshoo added that the rankings will motivate IUST to scale greater heights in academics and research, with a sharper focus on quality teaching, impactful research, industry linkages, and outreach.
The inclusion of IUST in NIRF 2025 is being seen as a landmark not only for the university but also for higher education in J&K, highlighting the region’s growing contribution to India’s knowledge economy.
