Awantipora, July 3: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) hosted an intensive 26-hour Hackathon on its campus, aimed at promoting innovation, practical learning, and enhancing placement prospects for students. The event was organised by the Centre for Career Counselling and Placements (3CP@IUST), a key initiative under the Dean Outreach Office, in collaboration with Bengaluru-based technology firm Andino Labs.

Exclusively designed for B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering students, the Hackathon brought together four student teams working on real-world problem statements provided by the industry partner. The participants engaged in collaborative, high-pressure coding and ideation, with the top-performing teams set to receive placement offers from the participating company.

Mentors and panellists from academia and industry were present throughout the duration of the event, guiding students in refining their solutions and aligning them with industry standards.

Prof. A. H. Moon, Dean Academic Affairs at IUST, encouraged the participants and highlighted the significance of such experiential learning platforms. “Competitions like this allow students to apply their classroom learning to real-world challenges, deepening their understanding and boosting their employability,” he said.

Jexa Gohil, Consultant at Andino Labs and the event coordinator, remarked that the Hackathon was a valuable experience combining innovation, teamwork, and practical learning. “The students demonstrated commendable problem-solving skills. Events like these prepare them for actual industry challenges and future career opportunities,” she noted.
