IUST hosts prominent academician under eminent lecture series programme

Awantipora, July 11: Continuing with the lecture series of distinguished academicians and practitioners on issues of global importance and thereby initiating students into critical thinking, IUST today hosted Prof Gautam Basu, Biophysicist and former Professor and chairman Bose Institute, Kolkata.

This year’s broader theme of the lectures focusses on "Bridging Science, Society and Sustainability Divide" and is being coordinated by Prof Javed Hussain Mir of Mantaqi Centre for Science and Society.

Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor, commended the organisers and said that the purpose of such lectures is to encourage students to know about the global challenges and develop capacities aimed at problem resolution. He said that global issues demand global consensus and encouraging youth to develop a broader perspective on global issues has become unavoidable.
