"It is an emotional vote": PDP’s Mehboob Beg on Er Rashid’s Baramulla win

Srinagar, June 05: Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehboob Beg on Wednesday said that Er. Rashid’s win reflects an “emotional vote”.

He said it is not as much a case of people looking for him to be their voice but it is people who have become his voice.

Taking to micro-blogging site X, the PDP Organizational General Secretary said: “I think with Engineer Rasheed - it is not as much a case of people looking for him to be their voice. It is an emotional vote, where people have become his voice”.

Er. Rashid who contested Lok Sabha polls from north Kashmir’s Baramulla seat as an independent candidate was declared the winner with a lead of over two lakh votes on June 04.

He defeated two political heavyweights – former chief minister and National Conference Vice president Omar Abdullah and former minister and Peoples Conference President Sajad Gani Lone.
