IT Department launches hotline for reporting financial malpractice during J&K Polls

Srinagar, Aug 30: The Income Tax Department in Jammu and Kashmir, has taken a significant step to ensure the integrity of the upcoming 2024 Legislative Assembly Elections. To promote transparency and fairness, the department has established dedicated communication channels for citizens to report election-related financial irregularities.

These new reporting channels include a toll-free number, an email address, and a WhatsApp number. Through these mediums, the public can provide information about suspicious cash transactions, distribution of jewellery, and other freebies related to the elections.

A spokesperson for the Income Tax Department, Srinagar, stated, “We are committed to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. These reporting channels will allow citizens to play an active role in preventing financial malpractices during the elections.”

The newly established reporting channels are: Toll Free Number 1800-180-7086, E-Mail ID srinagar.ddit.inv@incometax.gov.in, and WhatsApp number 9469890525.

Citizens are encouraged to use these channels to report any instances of suspicious cash transactions related to the elections, distribution of jewellery as election incentives, or distribution of other freebies to influence voters. The Income Tax Department assures that all information received will be treated confidentially and investigated thoroughly.
