Issue of Punjab’s post matric scholarship raised in Rajya Sabha
Srinagar, Aug 07: The issue of Rs 1062 crore pending for Punjab’s post matric scholarship from 2017 to 2020 was raised by MP Satnam Singh Sandhu in Rajya Sabha today.
Sandhu said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 11 crore children are studying in the country, but in Punjab, there was an outstanding of Rs 1062 crore from 2017 to 2020, in which the state paid Rs 362 cr and still no one is taking responsibility for the remaining Rs 700 cr.
Sandhu demanded to fix the liability of the pending post matric scholarship amount and release the amount to the colleges immediately so that the amount reaches the children due to which the children do not drop out and the colleges also do not close on account of financial crisis.
Leaders of Colleges Association; PUCA and PUTIA, Dr Anshu Kataria, Dr Gurmeet Dhaliwal, Manjit Singh have praised the efforts of MP Satnam Sandhu and requested the government to save the dropout students of Punjab and the closing colleges by immediately releasing the pending amount.
