Srinagar, June 17: India has begun the first phase of evacuating its citizens stranded in Iran amid the ongoing Israel-Iran hostilities, with around 110 Indian students including 90 from Kashmir were evacuated from Urmia Medical University successfully entering Armenia early this morning.

Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) national convenor Nasir Khuehami told news agency JKNS that 110 students including seven from Kashmir have been evacuated from Iran and are safe in Armenia.

The group crossed the Iran-Armenia land border overnight and is travelling by road to Yerevan, they are expected to reach the Armenian capital by midday (12 or 1pm), a Nasir told JKNS after speaking with several evacuees en route.

JKSA urged remaining students to stay in contact with the embassy helplines and follow official advisories.
