Israel announces tactical pause in parts of Gaza for aid delivery
New Delhi, Jul 27: The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has announced a daily tactical pause in military activity in parts of the Gaza Strip to facilitate humanitarian aid delivery, reports BBC. The pause, effective from Sunday, will take place from 10:00 to 20:00 local time in areas where the IDF is not currently operating, including al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah, and Gaza City. It will continue until further notice.
This development follows coordination with the United Nations and other international humanitarian organisations. In addition to the pause, secure routes will be made available daily from 06:00 to 23:00 to allow the safe movement of aid convoys distributing food and medical supplies across the enclave.
The move comes amid growing international pressure on Israel to address the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Aid agencies have warned of widespread starvation, with the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry reporting at least 127 deaths due to malnutrition since the onset of the conflict.
The UK has also stepped up its involvement in humanitarian relief efforts. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer confirmed that Britain is working with Jordan to coordinate air drops into Gaza.
