Srinagar, May 2: The University of Kashmir’s annual Inter-College Table Tennis Tournament (men) concluded on Friday, with Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar, clinching the title after a dominant 3-0 victory over GDC Anantnag in the final.

As per a press release issued, the tournament was organised by the varsity’s Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPE&S) as part of its annual sports calendar.

The tournament, held over three days, witnessed participation from 16 affiliated colleges across Kashmir, bringing together over 100 talented paddlers who displayed remarkable skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

In the grand finale, Islamia College Srinagar defeated GDC Anantnag with 3-0 to clinch the title. The third-place match (bronze) was played between GDC Uri and GDC Baramulla, wherein GDC Baramulla emerged victorious in a tough contest 2-1.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Dr Surjeet Singh, Coordinator, DPE&S KU, congratulated the winners and runners-up teams and emphasised the Directorate’s continuous efforts to enhance the competitiveness and excitement of these tournaments by ensuring the involvement of all affiliated colleges.

Dr Basharat Ali, Assistant Director DPE&S KU, commended all participants and reaffirmed the Directorate’s commitment to ensure active participation in sports through a well-structured calendar of inter-college tournaments.

The prize distribution ceremony was held in TT Hall DPE&S KU, which was attended by coaches and ministerial staff of DPE&S, where Dr Surjeet Singh awarded medals and certificates to the winner and runner-up teams.

Tausif Bhat, Assistant Director DPE&S KU, conducted proceedings of the concluding ceremony.

The women's tournament of DPE&S is scheduled to commence on May 5, 2025.
