Jammu, Jan 5: Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, from erstwhile J&K cadre (now AGMUT cadre), Amit Kumar has been empanelled to IGP rank.

Kumar, who has served in several key positions in J&K and is presently on central deputation, is among four officers of the AGMUT cadre of the 2006 batch empanelled to IG or IG equivalent level posts at the Centre by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the empanelment of these Indian Police Service officers of 2006 batch (initial) and 1997 to 2005 batches (initial leftover/deferred) to hold Inspector General (IG) or IG equivalent level posts at the Centre,” read MHA order, along with a list of 71 officers.

The other three officers of the AGMUT cadre empanelled to IG rank included Dr Vikramjit Singh, Jatin Narwal and Pushpendra Kumar.
