Investor-friendly policies have transformed J&K into a preferred investment destination: LG
Jammu, Sep 28: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed an ‘Investors Meet’ organised by the Department of Industries and Commerce and ICICI Bank at Basohli in Kathua.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted that massive infrastructure development and investor-friendly policies have transformed Jammu and Kashmir into a preferred investment destination in north India. He affirmed that the Government of India is committed to providing full support to facilitate industrial growth in the region.
“Industries are crucial for economic growth, generating employment and boosting income. Efforts are being made for extension of incentives under the Central Sector Scheme for the Development of Industries to further bolster industrial development in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. Our focus is inclusive and sustainable industrial development to ensure that economic growth is shared equitably across society,” the Lieutenant Governor said. He further emphasised that the greatest beneficiaries of economic growth should be the poor and rural communities.
The Lieutenant Governor also spoke about the growth potential of Basohli’s hospitality and industrial sectors. He called for a dedicated campaign to develop a skilled workforce and improve market linkages for local handicrafts and handloom products. He instructed the Industry Department to initiate QR coding for Basohli pashmina, handicrafts, and paintings.
He also informed that the Union Ministry of Textiles is considering establishing one of its sub-centres at Basohli.
The Investors Meet was attended by business leaders, investors, and representatives of industry chambers and associations from across the country.
