Srinagar, Mar 8: International Women’s Day was celebrated on Saturday at Sheikh Alam Memorial Government Degree College Budgam under the theme ‘For ALL Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment’.

The event aimed to recognize the remarkable achievements and contributions of women in different domains of life while highlighting challenges such as gender disparity and unequal opportunities they continue to face.

The celebration was graced by renowned women professionals who shared their experiences, struggles, and achievements. Dr. Mir Abiroo Mushtaq, a prominent psychiatrist, focused on mental health issues faced by women including depression, anxiety, postpartum depression, bipolar disorder, and psychosomatic conditions, discussing their influence on women’s lives.

Masarat Farooq, recognised as the first woman educational entrepreneur in J&K, shared her personal journey and emphasized the crucial role of education in women’s empowerment. The event also featured Ms. Tajali Bano, a dynamic entrepreneur who shared her experiences as a successful mobile technician.
