International Mother Language Day | Webnar hosted at GCW Udhampur
Udhampur, Feb 21: The Department of English,Government College for Women Udhampur today hosted a webinar, to mark observance of the International Mother Language Day. The event aimed to celebrate linguistic diversity and promote the preservation and appreciation of mother tongues nationwide.
In line with this year's theme, "Linguistic diversity and multilingualism count for sustainable development," the webinar featured Dr. Devika Sharma as resource person from Department of Languages, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Katra. She shared insights into the significance of preserving mother languages in the context of sustainable development on the topic, "Mother Language: Dilemma and Delusion".
The participants were treated to engaging discussions on the cultural, social, and educational importance of mother languages, highlighting their role in fostering inclusivity and promoting intercultural understanding. Participants were encouraged to embrace and cherish their linguistic heritage while also advocating for the recognition and protection of minority languages.
