Inter-Zone Handball Competition commences in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, July 3: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Ganderbal commenced its inter-zone district level handball competition today at GCOPE Gadoora Ganderbal.

The event featured boys competing in the U-17 and U-19 age groups, with all four zones of the district actively participating.

District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Ganderbal, Sheikh Shafqat Iqbal, and Activity Incharge Manzoor Ahmad, graced the occasion, ensuring all arrangements were in place.

The event’s primary goal is to select and prepare top players for future district-level competitions besides aiming to bring recognition to Ganderbal.

During the event, zone Tullamulla claimed victory in both age categories. Zone Kangan finished as the runner-up in the U17 category, while Zone Ganderbal secured the second position in the U19 category.

Meanwhile, Zone Hariganiwan organized an inter-school zonal handball competition for girls U-19 at BHSS Hariganiwan ground. BHSS Hariganiwan emerged victorious over BHSS Kullan in the finals.

The best players from this event will represent their zone in the upcoming inter-zone district competition.

In addition YSS Ganderbal celebrated last year’s judo athletes who represented Jammu and Kashmir in the 67th National School Games 2023, earning 4 silver and 2 bronze medals. DYSSO Ganderbal visited their schools to present trophies and Track Suits and to commended their achievements in front of their teachers and peers.

This recognition aims to boost the athletes’ confidence and inspire other students to engage in sports and strive for excellence.
