Ramban, Nov 16: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur Amod Nagpure on Sunday directed the officers to strengthen the anti-drug mechanism and also focus on community outreach to fight the menace.

He was chairing an operations-cum-crime review meeting at the District Police Lines (DPL) Udhampur to assess the district’s crime situation and further strengthen its security apparatus.

The meeting, according to Police spokesperson, was attended by DySP Headquarters, SDPOs, DySP PCs, DySP DAR, Senior PO DPO, DSP Probationary, Prosecution Officer, SHOs and In-charge Police Posts, reflecting the district police’s emphasis on coordinated and effective policing.

During the session, a detailed station-wise assessment was carried out, covering crime trends, status of investigations, drug trafficking, militancy-related threats and activities of organized criminal groups. Officers from various jurisdictions shared updates on case disposal, bottlenecks in investigations and operational challenges faced on the ground.

The discussion primarily focused on intensifying anti-drug operations, strengthening surveillance on Over-Ground Workers (OGWs), enhancing intelligence gathering mechanisms and boosting the district’s preparedness to tackle cybercrime. The need for swift and sensitive handling of gender-related offences also figured prominently.

SSP Nagpure laid clear emphasis on zero tolerance for crime, strengthening grievance redressal, enhancing night patrolling and utilising technology more effectively for crime detection. He underscored the importance of professionalism, discipline and accountability among all ranks of the district police.

Reaffirming the commitment to achieving a drug-free Udhampur, the SSP directed officers to intensify anti-narcotics enforcement and deepen community outreach efforts to combat substance abuse.

The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge from the police leadership to reinforce proactive policing and strengthen the police-public partnership to ensure a safer and more secure Udhampur.
