INTACH organises poster-making competition

Srinagar, Oct 29: INTACH Kashmir organised a poster-making competition on Intangible heritage themed 'Celebrating India' at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School Soura.

The event, promoted by HECS Division of INTACH, New Delhi, saw enthusiastic participation from students studying in classes 7 to 9 from various schools across Srinagar. The organisers said the primary objective of the competition was to promote cultural education and appreciation among school children, encouraging them to explore and connect with the intangible heritage of Kashmir.

Participants were tasked with creating posters that depicted a unique aspect of Kashmir’s intangible cultural heritage, such as local festivals, traditions, customs, rituals, or social practices.

Each entry included a suitable slogan and a descriptive write-up detailing the history, community, and practices related to their chosen heritage element, including aspects such as food, dress, decor, and traditional music and dance.

The students exhibited remarkable enthusiasm and creativity, reflecting their deep connection to their cultural roots. Their artwork not only illustrated their understanding of Kashmir's rich heritage but also emphasised the importance of preserving these traditions for future generations.

All entries will be submitted to the HECS Division of INTACH in New Delhi, where the best posters will be selected for recognition. The competition will culminate in the announcement of 100 regional winners and 10 national winners, with prizes and trophies awarded to all successful participants.
