Institution of Engineers celebrates Engineer's Day
Srinagar, Sep 15: The Institution of Engineers (India), J&K State Centre, Srinagar, celebrated the 57th Engineer's Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary engineer Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
The event was held under the patronage of Er Iftikhar Ahmad Hakim, FIE, Chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India), J&K State Centre, and was coordinated by Dr Jahangeer Ali, MIE, Honorary Secretary of the Institution.
The Guest of Honour, Dr Sajad Hussain Din, Principal, SSM College of Engineering, emphasised the crucial role of engineers in driving sustainable development and highlighted the importance of embracing emerging technologies like AI to address the challenges of modern society and underlined the need for stronger collaboration between academic institutions and industries, particularly in fostering innovation in engineering education.
The event's keynote speaker, Prof M Arif Wani, from the Department of Computer Sciences, University of Kashmir, delivered an insightful presentation on the event’s theme, "Driving Sustainability with Engineering Solutions Embracing the Latest AI-Driven Technologies".
Presentations were delivered by Dr Junaid Farooq, Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Er Shurjeel Ghani Lalla, Superintending Engineer, KPDCL, Er Tasaduq Hussain Kaul from the Jal Shakti Department, J&K and Er Irfan Ahmad Reshi, Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil), focusing on the application of AI and smart technologies in engineering solutions.
The programme was attended by Executive Committee members of IEI J&K State Centre, former Chief Engineers, corporate members, engineers, and academicians. The event successfully highlighted the evolving role of engineering in shaping a sustainable and technologically advanced future.
