Srinagar, Mar 4: To commemorate opening of schools after winter vacations, Bilaliya Educational Institution (BEI) organised a plantation drive at its Amda Kadal campus.

The event witnessed participation of distinguished figures, environmentalists, students, teachers and faculty.

Manzoor Wangnoo, Chairman of the Institute and a staunch advocate for environmental conservation, emphasised the indispensable role of plants in sustaining the ecosystem. He underscored the imperative of instilling environmental responsibility in the younger generation, highlighting the crucial role of cultivating a green consciousness for the planet's well-being.

Dr Touseef Ahmed, MC member KCC&I, echoed the sentiment that genuine education transcends conventional classrooms. He emphasised the significance of educating children about the value of plantation, nurturing a profound connection with nature, and imparting lessons in sustainability and stewardship.

“The plantation drive at Bilaliya Educational Institution signifies a dedication to a holistic education approach, encompassing not only academic excellence but also environmental stewardship. By integrating such initiatives into the curriculum, the institution aims to shape responsible citizens capable of tackling the challenges of an ever-evolving world,” Wangnoo said.

Prominent figures including Er Abdul Rashid, Syed Amjid Rizvi, and Wajahat Margoob, among others, graced the event with their presence. “As Bilaliya Educational Institution embarks on a new academic year, it sets a commendable example for fostering a culture of environmental consciousness and sustainability among students, serving as a beacon of inspiration for educational institutions. We will continue our tradition of fostering environmental stewardship,” Wangnoo said in his address.
