Inspection of Katra-Reasi rail link rescheduled to Jan 7, 8
Srinagar, Jan 01: Authorities on Wednesday revised inspection visit of Commissioner of Railway Safety, Northern Circle, New Delhi for Katra-Reasi rail line to January 7 and 8.
“Please arrange the movement of Inspection Carriage RA-001181 nominated for Commissioner of Railway Safety, Northern Circle, New Delhi, as per revised programme on January 06 and 07, 2025,” a notification issued by Ministry of Civil Aviation (Commission of Railway Safety) reads.
The notification further reads, “On January 07-08, 2025, statutory inspection for opening of Katra-Reasi [16.501 km] section in connection with Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla New BG Rail Link Project will be conducted”.
During the inspection, the CAO/USBRL, CBE, CSE, COM-G, CEGE from HQ, DRM/FZR and BOs shall accompany the officer.
Pertinently the long-awaited Srinagar-New Delhi rail link, a monumental infrastructure project spanning over two decades, is set to become a reality. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the final 17-km section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project on January 26, 2025. This section, connecting Reasi to Katra, will complete the 272-km railway line, bringing the much-anticipated Vande Bharat train service between New Delhi and Srinagar to life.
