New Delhi, Nov 27: Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sahyadri, an indigenously built stealth frigate, conducted a joint exercise with the Philippine Navy ahead of its port call at Manila for the harbour phase of its Indo-Pacific deployment.

The vessel is currently on an operational mission in the region, taking part in a series of bilateral and multilateral exercises with friendly nations, including MALABAR-2025, AUSINDEX-2025, JAIMEX-25, and its first bilateral drill with the Republic of Korea Navy.

During the exercise with the Philippines, both navies carried out tactical communication drills, navigation manoeuvres, Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) operations, and flying exercises aimed at enhancing professional coordination and interoperability. The upcoming harbour phase in Manila will feature professional exchanges, cross-deck visits and Subject Matter Expert interactions. Cultural activities such as sports events, a joint yoga session and assistance to a local orphanage are also planned. The deployment of INS Sahyadri reflects India’s commitment to deepening maritime cooperation with the Philippines and promoting peace, stability and security in the Indo-Pacific under the Act East Policy and SAGAR vision.
