Inquiry ordered into delayed payments for MGNREGA contractors in Shopian

Srinagar, Oct  15: The Directorate of Rural Development has ordered an inquiry into the unnecessary delay in releasing payments to MGNREGA contractors in south Kashmir's Shopian block.

The inquiry was initiated after Greater Kashmir published a story about the prolonged delay in payments to numerous contractors.

According to an order issued by the Director of Rural Development, Kashmir, Shabir Hussain Bhat, the Joint Director (Admin) will conduct an in-depth inquiry into the allegations of delayed payments.

"The inquiry officer shall submit the inquiry report along with his recommendations within 15 days from the issuance of this order," the directive states.
