Inordinate delay hits filling of vacant posts at Kashmir University
Srinagar, Aug 31: The authorities at the Kashmir University (KU) are delaying filling up the vacant positions of Campus Directors, Joint Registrars and other key positions.
An official said that around 136 posts of different ranks are lying vacant at the varsity, besides satellite campuses as well.
The official said the post of Director Physical Education, Director South Campus, Director Kupwara Campus, and Director Zakura campus are lying vacant as well.
"The post is managed by senior professors as their additional assignment or have been appointed as in-charge directors," the official said.
Currently, the post of Director DIQA is also lying vacant and is managed by a professor as in-charge.
Besides the post of Campus directors, the post of additional controller of examination is also vacant in the University.
"Several posts of deputy registrars and assistant registrars are also unfilled. The post of PRO Kashmir University is also lying vacant for a long period of time," the official.
The vacant positions include Director South Campus, Kupwara Campus, IOT Zakura Campus, Director, Directorate of Physical Education & Sports while two positions of Deputy Directors at Directorate of Physical Education & Sports.
The post of Deputy Director DIQA is also unfilled in the varsity while two posts of Assistant Directors DIQA , Director IT&SS, Director Convocation Complex and Additional Controller of examinations are also lying vacant.
The University has vacant post of Joint Registrar at main Campus, besides one each post of Joint Registrar is lying unfilled at north and south campus as well.
The University also has four posts of Deputy Registrar unfilled besides 13 posts of Assistant Registrars, Deputy Librarian- Allama Iqbal Library and eight positions of Assistant Librarian at Allama Iqbal Library are also unfilled.
Also, 70 positions of Junior Assistants, five posts of Laboratory Assistant in Science Departments, three posts of Supervisors in landscape section, 10 posts of Technical Assistants in Science Departments are also lying vacant in the university.
Registrar Kashmir University Prof. Naseer Iqbal, when contacted, said that the recruitment of Assistant Registrars and Junior Assistants landed in court because of re-advertisement of the positions.
"The posts were advertised earlier but due to covid-19 the process was not completed and posts were re-advertised. Some candidates raised objections and filed a case in Court," Registrar KU told Greater Kashmir.
He said KU officials always remain present in Court during the hearing of the case but the final order is yet to be issued by Court.
He said the vacant positions of Deputy Registrars will be filled very soon as the posts are already advertised and interviews are being scheduled as well.
"The screening of the candidates will be done very soon and posts will be filled," he said.
Registrar KU further said that the vacant posts of Campus Directors and other positions will be filled as well.
"Interviews for these positions are on cards and posts will be filled in one or two months," he said.
